purpose statementthe job of lunchroom/playground monitor - elementary is done for the purpose/s of providing supervision of students in common areas of the school including the playground and lunchroom.
essential functions- administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs;
- attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions;
- facilitates activities among students for the purpose of providing direction in playground interactions and age-appropriate activities;
- maintains equipment and work area for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; providing a safe learning environment; and/or meeting mandated requirements;
- monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. Playground, lunchroom, etc.) for the purpose of resolving conflict to provide a safe and positive learning environment;
- participates in meetings and conferences (e.g. With parents, staff, and students, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information and helping resolve issues;
- provides support to students for the purpose of to resolve minor conflicts;
- reinforces expectations for student behavior for the purpose of in common areas of the school;
- reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. Accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel;
- responds to emergency situations (e.g. Injured student, fights, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
skills are required to perform single tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: preparing and maintaining accurate records.
knowledge is required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; and understand written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: stages of child development and learning styles; and age-appropriate activities.
ability is required to schedule activities; collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize job-related equipment.
