The job of Student Behavior Support Technician is done for the purpose/s of providing behavioral and academic support to students individually or in small groups, implements behavior intervention plans, assists with classroom management, maintains student records, and supports positive student outcomes across school settings. This position may be itinerant, assigned to different classrooms, or school sites as needed to support students and staff.
This job reports to Office of Special Services Administrator.
Essential Functions- Implement prescribed Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), skill acquisition plans, and behavior-reduction protocols for assigned students.
- Collect, record, summarize, and interpret data on observable student behavior to monitor progress and support decision-making.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with classroom teachers, Behavior Specialists, and other school staff regarding student supports, behavior strategies, and progress.
- Assist with classroom and school-wide management by monitoring students in various settings (classroom, cafeteria, recess, transitions) and reinforcing appropriate behaviors.
- Attend various meetings and trainings (e.g. required training, professional development, continued skill acquisition, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining competence in behavior-support techniques.
- Prepare and organize instructional and behavioral materials as directed by teachers and specialists.
- Maintain confidentiality of all student information and adhere to district/state privacy policies.
- Participate in required training, professional development, and continuing skill acquisition to maintain competence in behavior-support techniques.
- Support transitions, re-entry to class from suspension/alternative settings, and promote positive social-behavioral skills (e.g., conflict resolution, anger management, self-regulation).
- Work under the direction of the Behavior Specialist and/or BCBA in close coordination with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure consistent implementation of support plans across settings.
- Promotes student access, engagement, and successful participation in school programs by reinforcing positive behaviors and supporting skill acquisition.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including possible itinerant assignment across classrooms or school sites.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work.

Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
