JOB SUMMARY

This coaching position is in the athletic department at Cedar Heights Middle School. CHMS is a three‑year comprehensive program that operates on a semester system. The mission is to develop and promote learning in a safe, caring atmosphere bringing together community, family, student, and the teacher.

Note: This is a stipend position, with no fixed release time available.

• Capable of coaching all phases of the sport.
• Responsible for equipment pre‑season and post‑season inventories.
• Be available to drive team vans.
• Assist in the administration of contests.
• Assist with the non‑league schedule.
• Available on practice days.
• Supervise athletes at all times.
• Available for home and away contests, including some Saturday commitments.
• Demand strong team discipline and sportsmanship.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, trainers, athletic director, and administration.
• Follow all coaching duties listed in the South Kitsap High School, Narrows League, and WIAA handbooks.
• Reports to the CHMS Athletic Director and School Principal.

• Current certificated employee of the South Kitsap School District.
• Previous participation in the sport.
• Previous coaching experience.

• Valid and up‑to‑date First Aid and CPR certification (prior to beginning coaching experience).
• Meet coaching certification standards set by the South Kitsap School District and the WIAA.
• Valid Washington driver’s license and proof of insurance.
• Fingerprint clearance prior to beginning coaching experience (at the employee’s expense, Washington State Patrol and FBI Background Clearance).

Determined by negotiated agreement and/or verified cross‑country coaching experience from another school district.
