purpose statementthe job of para educator - functional adaptive (fa) is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the general education classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; providing information to appropriate school personnel;
and attending iep meetings.
this job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: supporting students with high needs; behaviors/sensory regulation, social emotional, communication, fine and gross motor skills, (i.e. Tube feeding, catheterization), diapering, and/or toileting.
this job reports to building administrator
essential functions- adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives;
- administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional (e.g. Diapering, tube feeding, colostomy bags, etc.) for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs;
- assists students, teachers, and other certificated personnel for the purpose of implementing instruction and/or ieps;
- attends meetings and trainings (e.g. First aid, cpr, emergency procedures, de-escalation training, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and or conveying information relative to job functions;
