Full‑Time - Permanent, Washington Veterans Home (Port Orchard, Washington)

We are excited to announce that we are now hiring for a Clinical Nutrition Manager (Dietitian
2) to use their passion for food and dietetics to maximize the quality of care for our resident Veterans and train and lead a team of dietetic staff Sporadically, this role offers seasoned dietitians the chance to impact a diverse patient community and work with a multidisciplinary care team.

This job performs professional‑level nutrition assessments, counseling, and education and provides medical nutritional therapy in a long‑term care setting. It is ideal for those interested in unique patient cases, who value working closely

Comparable to traditional roles, this position offers a schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday–Friday in‑office, with possible variation hours from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Some of what you'll do
  • Train staff and dietetic interns in specialty areas to meet facility and resident needs માણ
  • Provide periodic training to nursing staff on current nutrition research and its application to nutrition and food service systems in sub‑specialty areas
  • Provide new employee orientation regarding basic nutrition support/principles
  • Train assigned personnel on nutrition policies and procedures to remain compliant with regulatory requirements
  • Provide training and support to Dietitian 1 on electronic medical records and MDS standards of care
  • Keep clear, concise and accurate records and communicate with the dietary supervisory team to ensure needed support for nutrition care plans
  • Set expectations, provide feedback, assign and monitor work, and respond to leave requests
  • Evaluate performance and complete professional development plans for assigned personnel
  • Conduct disease‑specific research to promote innovative nutrition approaches for resident care
  • Drive facility goals and objectives related to Executive Order 13‑06 for resident benefit
  • Identify and monitor residents at nutrition risk

Required
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree with a major study in food and nutrition or dietetics that meets Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics standards
  • 24 months recent experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, preferably in long‑term care
  • Registration by the Commission of Dietetics Registration (RD/RDN)
  • Certified Dietitian with the Washington State Department of Health or within 6 months of hire
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
Preferred / Desired
  • Certified Diabetes Educator
  • Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition
  • Ability to organize, prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a time‑sensitive environment
  • Experience with project planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Understanding of professional boundaries
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Serve Safe certified
  • Experience with Point Click Care and/or other Electronic Medical Record Programs

Special Requirements
  • Pass DSHS BCCU background check before starting and every two years
  • Comply with annual Tuberculin Screening per DVA policy 670 000
  • Requirements for respiratory protection and personal protective equipment as per Washington Industrial Safety Act
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and proper call‑ procedures
  • Complete employee orientation and all mandatory annual in mustard training within required time frames
  • Familiarize and comply with all DVA policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements
  • Sign confidentiality statement for all employees
  • Maintain a valid Washington State Food Handler’s Permit
  • Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver’s license and insurance for state business
