Essential job functions and responsibilities- Teaching reading, English, social studies, science, math, and computer skills to individuals who are functioning below the 12th grade level to prepare for the official GED® Exam.
- Creating and developing curriculum, lesson plans and teaching materials.
- Integrating computer-aided instruction into lessons as appropriate.
- Monitoring and assessing students’ progress on a regular basis.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
- A minimum of 12 months teaching experience preferred.
- Flexibility in work hours.
- Computer proficiency in basic applications such as Microsoft Office and the internet.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
- Attention to detail, good judgment, and a strong work ethic.
- Strong communication skills.
- All instructors must meet the credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
- Maintaining a safe and effective classroom environment.
- Participating in department, division, and general adjunct faculty meetings.
- Participating in professional development as appropriate to the position.

- Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
This position requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods, present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
