This position is essential and requires reporting to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency.

Responsibilities include:

• Proper operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities.
• Developing public trust in the City's Utility.
• Shift work, scheduled/unscheduled overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and immediate response to emergencies.

Starting hourly rates:

• Plant Operator C: $25.31
• Plant Operator B: $26.58
• Plant Operator A: $27.91

The duties are illustrative and other related duties may be assigned. Essential duties include:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of water treatment, distribution, and supply operations.
• Understanding of bacteriology principles.
• Ability to follow instructions, read meters, and maintain records.
• Positive attitude, respectfulness, and ability to build trust.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent, with courses in biology and chemistry.
• Experience requirements vary by class: A (5 years), B (3 years), C (1 year).

Licenses and Certifications:

• Valid Class A, B, or C Water Treatment Plant Operator's License from the State of Florida.
• Valid Florida driver's license with a good record.

Physical requirements include working in confined spaces, lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and working in a noisy environment.
