Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor from Heavy Industry? Would you like to be part of a transformational and historic project within the Steel industry? Are you based in or around South Wales?
We are looking for an established Quantity Surveyor to support the Project Invictus – a transformative project modernising the UK steelmaking sector. The position is available on a temporary or contractual basis.
Job Details- Contract type:
Temporary/Contractual - Shift pattern:
Mon‑Fri 08:30‑16:45;
Mon‑Thu 08:30‑15:45 - Start date:
ASAP (within one month, pending medical assessment) - Health and safety:
Drug and alcohol testing required; medical assessment mandatory - Location:
South Wales (X4 days site‑based, X1 day remote) - Required qualifications:
Full Right to Work in the UK and Chartered status (RICS/CIOB)
- Lead commercial and contractual management of large scale construction and civil engineering within Project Invictus.
- Prepare, monitor and report on project budget, forecast and cost plans.
- Ensure value for money at all times throughout the project.
- Oversee subcontract procurement from tender to final acceptance.
- Access and negotiate variations, compensation and change orders under NEC, FIDIC and other contracts.
- Support preparation, project close‑out and commercial risk management.
- Liaise with project engineers, planners and delivery teams to maintain project objectives.
- Mentor and support junior team members throughout the project.
- Drive a strong, high‑performing, commercial culture within the team.
- Degree educated in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline.
- Chartered status (RICS/CIOB).
- Proven experience managing commercial aspects of major civil and/or heavy engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, FIDIC and/or JCT contracts.
- Valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective stakeholder management, negotiation and analytical skills.
- Proactive approach to tasks with ability to deliver on compliance and innovation.
- Advice and editing on current CV.
