The Environmental Health Specialist (EHS) is a professional-level position responsible for conducting a wide variety of activities. The EHS will conduct sanitation inspections and evaluations as well as code enforcement and technical review. The EHS must have excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
Day to day activities may involve: program specific regulation enforcement (on-site septic operation and maintenance, drinking water, food safety, solid waste, and swimming pools), education and outreach, report composition, as well as conducting environmental assessment and monitoring.
Education and/or ExperienceEnvironmental Health Specialist I:
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university in public health, sanitary science, bacteriology, dairy science, veterinary medicine, engineering, or a basic natural or physical science OR related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. WA State Driver’s License.
UFCW, EHS I, Grade 30, starting pay typically $30.87. Full hourly range $30.87-$36.85/hr, DOE.
UFCW, EHS II Grade 32, starting pay typically $33.19. Full hourly range $33.19-$39.63/hr, DOE.
Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. 12 paid holidays, PTO, and bereavement leave.
