Certified Veterinary Technician - Urgent Care

Join Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI as a Relief Veterinary Technician in our Emergency and Urgent Care department.

The pay range for this role is $22.00 - $35.00/hour, dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

As a Patient Care Technician, responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with physical exams on patients
• Preparing supplies for treatments and procedures
• Performing in-house lab work (Idexx and Heska)
• Monitoring patients during sedated or anesthetic procedures

As a Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Triage cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure
• Assist the doctor with creating patient treatment plans and thoroughly explaining to owners
• Monitor hospitalized patients
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting the Veterinarian to changes and issues
• Assist with phlebotomy and intravenous catheters
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and assist with CPR
• Mentor and train other co-workers
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy
