What you'll be doing:The Customer Service & Production Coordinator supports day‑to‑day manufacturing and customer operations by raising purchase orders, ordering materials, tracking job progress, and assisting customers with enquiries. This role acts as a key link between customers, suppliers, the machine shop, and internal production teams to ensure orders move accurately, efficiently, and on time. The role also supports the Production Supervisor by tracking daily shop floor activity and providing accurate, up‑to‑date operational information to aid production planning and delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities- Raise and process purchase orders (POs) within the company’s ERP/MRP system and Excel
- Order materials from approved suppliers in line with production requirements
- Track production progress internally and externally, updating internal stakeholders as required
- Record and monitor daily machine shop floor activity to support production control and reporting
- Work closely with the Production Supervisor to provide visibility of job status, capacity, and priorities
- Respond to customer enquiries regarding order status, lead times, and general information
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of orders, materials, and job status
- Identify potential delays, shortages, or issues and elevate to the appropriate team
- Support continuous improvement of operational, administrative, and reporting processes
- Carry out general operational and administrative duties as required
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, order processing, production support, or customer service role is desirable
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Confident communicator with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Comfortable using ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, and general office software
- Methodical, accurate, and process‑driven
- Proactive and curious, with a willingness to ask questions and source information
- Comfortable working with technical and production‑related data (engineering knowledge not required, but a willingness to learn is essential)
