Controls Engineer

The Controls Engineer will design, implement and optimize control and automation systems for industrial equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, robotics and motion control. The focus is on continuous process and hybrid environments such as batching, blending, material handling, packaging, and robotic automation cells.

• Design and integrate PLC, HMI, and motion control systems.
• Develop control strategies in an evolving environment.
• Program PLCs, HMIs, robots and other control devices to meet system requirements.
• Collaborate with corporate engineering on programming and software development for new capital projects.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for plant floor automation equipment and optimize existing systems.
• Support cross‑functional teams for continuous improvement initiatives and new automation technologies.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including engineering drawings and programming code.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards and safety practices.
• Provide training to maintenance technicians and operators.
• Manage controls‑related projects from initiation to completion, meeting timelines and budgets.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field (or equivalent work experience) – Required.
• 5–8 years of controls engineering in a manufacturing environment, or 3–5 years as a systems/machine integrator – Preferred.
• Solid understanding of control system design principles and industrial automation – Required.
• Excellent programming skills for PLCs, HMIs, and robotics – Required.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings – Required.
• Strong troubleshooting skills (AC circuits, VFDs, low‑voltage wiring, motors, panels, etc.) – Required.
• Familiarity with CMMS – Required.
• Project‑management skills with ability to handle multiple projects – Required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – Required.
• Experience with Allen Bradley control systems – Preferred.
• Background in process controls, remote operations, and SCADA – Preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for system design – Preferred.
