Position: Controls Engineer - Industrial Automation (No C2C or Third party)

Controls Engineer – Industrial Automation

Shift
: 2nd Shift 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM Monday – Friday; supports 4 x 10hr shift structure plus overtime on Fridays (4:00PM - 10:30PM).

Location
: 100% onsite – Portage, Michigan (49002).

Contract Duration
: 12 month contract with extension potential and internal hire possibilities.

Pay
:
Negotiable up to $58–$63 per hour based on experience.

Work Authorization
:
Must be currently in the United States with active employment authorization; no sponsorship transfer.

What You Will Do
  • Provide technical support and coverage for equipment within the Company’s Medical Plant, focusing on electrical, control, and PLC subsystems.
  • Help troubleshoot complex manual, semi‑automated, and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Execute small/medium‑scale manufacturing projects, including machine automation and PLC control projects, capacity planning, part transfers, and cost‑reduction initiatives.
  • Support equipment purchases following established standards for electrical, control, and control system sub‑components.
  • Partner with maintenance, engineering, and tool room to resolve line‑down issues and process concerns.
  • Program numerical or PLC‑controlled metal fabrication, assembly, finishing, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist in validation activities: equipment qualifications, process validations, and production part approval.
What You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (preferred).
  • 6+ years of manufacturing controls, software, programming, or electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, and P&.
  • Direct experience in PLC programming, troubleshooting, debugging, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation applications/software.
  • Rockwell Automation software knowledge preferred.
