All Operators are responsible for safety, operational efficiencies, quality standards, preventive maintenance, sanitation and administrative support. Each Operator will have a development plan and participate in cross training with successful completion and certification in all 6 primary operator roles (Dryer, Evaporator, UFRO, HTST, Receiving, Packaging) within one year. Operators must perform and participate in a team environment where shared responsibilities, problem‑solving, achieving team goals and continuous improvement of the overall process are basic expectations.
All operators are expected to work on any assignments determined necessary by the Supervisor or management to ensure team success.
- Capable to work in any functional area within the facility, including CER Dryer Operator, HTST Operator, UFRO Operator, Evaporator Operator, Milk Receiver, and Packaging Operator.
- Operator will be required to recertify in each functional area annually.
- Engaged in problem solving to assist in improving safety, quality, yields and productivity.
- Member of at least one continuous‑improvement team (safety, quality, etc.).
- Demonstrates high safety and quality ownership coupled with urgency.
- Ensures safe operation through adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and procedures.
- Ensures operational efficiencies: positioning work, setting up jobs, adjusting and operating equipment for proper functions and product manufacture.
- Maintains process control by monitoring statistical information and reporting variations to Supervisor or Quality Assurance Manager.
- Performs quality monitoring to ensure all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Daily cleaning of task area, keeping work area free of clutter.
- Inspects all equipment as required and completes preventative maintenance on assigned task area.
- Identifies mechanical issues, symptom recognition, lists probable faults, performs failure analysis within 5 minutes before calling maintenance.
- Encounters vacations coverage for operators for CER Dryer, UFRO, Evaporator and HTST on day or night shift on scheduled side of the week.
- Must be recertified as Master Relief Operator annually.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One plus year of business or related college coursework preferred.
- Three years of manufacturing production experience preferred.
- SAP software experience a plus.
Skills And Abilities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Strong planning skills.
- Proficient in 4 direct areas of the production process.
- Experience reconciling production transactions.
- 2‑3 years related experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels.
