Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed independent advanced practice provider who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status).

The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed advanced practice who works under the authority of a licensed physician until independent practice regulations are met. The PA is responsible for contributing to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; and implementing directives of a supervisory physician.

This position requires a unique (“Flex”) work schedule of seven (7) days on, and then seven (7) days off as follows:

Essential Job Responsibilities (within licensure regulations)

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses, minor injuries, and common medical conditions.
• Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform physical examinations.
• Develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans based on the patient's clinical presentation.
• Order and interpret appropriate laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other studies.
• Prescribe medications and therapies within the scope of practice and applicable regulations.
• Provide appropriate patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and follow-up.
• Perform minor office-based procedures within the provider's training, competency, and scope of practice.
• Recognize patients requiring a higher level of care and appropriately coordinate referrals, transfers, or emergency evaluation.
• Provide follow-up care when clinically appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, medical assistants, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and organizational initiatives.
• Follow RGH policies, procedures, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain professional relationships with patients, families, staff, and members of the community.
• Perform other duties within the provider's scope of practice as assigned.
