We are looking for a Senior Public Health Advanced Practitioner to lead our work on tobacco control and smoking cessation across South Tyneside.
This is a key leadership role within the Public Health Team, focusing exclusively on tobacco-related health improvement. You will drive forward our local tobacco control strategy, commission and oversee smoking cessation services, and work with partners across local authorities, NHS, voluntary sector, and the Integrated Care Board to reduce smoking prevalence and tackle health inequalities.
Responsibilities- Lead the development and delivery of tobacco control programmes aligned with the South Tyneside Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
- Commission and monitor services that support people to quit smoking, including innovative approaches for those who find quitting difficult.
- Work collaboratively with local organisations and regional networks to embed tobacco control in wider health initiatives.
- Ensure all commissioned services and interventions consider the full range of evidence-based quit aids to support successful quitting.
- Provide strategic leadership and expert advice on tobacco-related issues.
- Manage allocated budgets effectively, ensuring value for money and compliance with financial regulations.
- Line manage one Public Health Practitioner who will support delivery of the tobacco control work plan.
- A strategic thinker with experience in public health and a strong track record of influencing partners to improve health.
- Excellent communication and partnership skills.
- Organised, proactive, and confident in contributing ideas and driving change.
