About The PositionThe Residential Support Worker works an awake overnight shift (Th, F, Sa 11 p‑7 a) in Gilead’s Middletown adult supervised apartment program for women. The role includes coaching, mentoring, advocacy, and supportive services for women with serious mental illness, co‑occurring substance use disorders, and trauma histories. The worker also assists with household chores, meal prep, and teaching life skills such as money management and daily living.
The position is suitable for candidates with no prior experience who are interested in entering mental health direct care or seeking a career change.
- High school diploma;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred - Must maintain and provide proof of a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in good standing

- Understand client needs and provide support based on Gilead’s training and education
- Assist with meal preparation, household chores, shopping, cleaning, laundry, and money management, while teaching daily living skills
- Deliver recovery-oriented services with an emphasis on dignity, respect, and inclusion of family and other natural supports
- Exchange information between shifts through required reporting documentation and communication, both electronic and paper
- Assist with coordination and provision of transportation to treatment, community, and social outings, and other essential appointments
- Work with the treatment team to support clients’ mental health, providing education and training regarding symptom management, and assessing for risks as needed
- Act with compassion, integrity, and ethics
