FOOD SERVICE WORKER/CASHIER (ON CALL)

Location:

Jay Schools, 1976 West Tyson Road, Portland, IN 47371

Schedule:

On‑call, Monday through Friday. No holidays or weekends. Details upon interview.

Compensation: $14.00 per hour. Employee referral bonus available.

Responsibilities
  • Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting, and seeding fruits and vegetables. Weigh and measure designated ingredients.
  • Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards. Distribute supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
  • Store foods in designated areas in accordance with wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures.
  • Clean work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
  • Use approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures, and standard portion control.
  • Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service.
  • Interact with customers and resolve customer complaints in a friendly, service‑oriented manner.
  • Relay relevant information to supervisor.
  • Perform sales transactions.
  • Enter sales into the cash register to ensure purchases are accurately recorded.
  • Make change, accept declining balance cards and other acceptable forms of payment.
  • Issue receipts to customers.
  • Follow standard procedures for issuing cash refunds.
  • Responsible for all assigned change funds and cash receipts, ensuring that cash drawer is in compliance with overage/shortage standards.
  • Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies while maintaining service area cleanliness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous food service experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
