Child Watch Associate - Northern York County Family YMCA

The Child Watch Associate working under the direction of the Youth Development Director is responsible for conducting a safe, quality, and age-appropriate small or large group experience for children and families in the Prime-Time program, consistent with the YMCA of Southern Maine at the Northern York County Family YMCA’s core values and the needs of participants and the community.

Shift Schedules
  • Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM-11:30 AM
  • Monday-Thursday from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
  • Inclusion – Honors the YMCA of Southern Maine’s Promise Statement, models a commitment to equity and inclusion, creates a safe environment, promotes mutual respect, and supports diverse perspectives.
  • Programming – Assists children upon arrival to ease transition, provides effective supervision, supports safety, and leads activities with campers.
  • Leadership – Is a collaborative, engaged, and positive role model through good work habits, a positive attitude and respect for the YMCA’s values and rules, communicates effectively, and makes sound decisions.
  • Relationship Building – Develops positive, authentic relationships within the Y that increase awareness of the Y’s mission and impact.
  • Personal Growth – Maintains a high degree of emotional maturity, interpersonal skills, and is committed to skill acquisition.
  • Operations & Safety – Ensures the health and safety of each child, follows YMCA protocols, keeps program areas safe, clean and orderly, responds calmly to emergencies, completes incident reports, and reports concerns to the Director.
  • Data Tracking & Documentation – Maintains accurate and consistent data tracking and documentation as required.
Qualifications
  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Experienced working with youth, preferred.
  • Detail oriented; extremely reliable, dependable, and punctual.
  • CPR/AED/Basic First Aid certified (YMCA will train).
  • A criminal background check is required prior to hire; this will be paid for by the YMCA of Southern Maine.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
