Job Description
We are currently seeking a Senior Paving Construction Inspector to help oversee multiple types of urban and rural pavement rehabilitation or preservation projects with construction values ranging from $1 to $25 million. This position can be based out of Merrimack, NH;
Portland, Augusta, or Eliot, ME;
Waterbury, VT. The inspector will oversee various work elements including asphalt shimming, milling, reclaiming, filling, compacting, drainage improvements, striping and other incidental items. The inspector will report to the Resident Engineer, and may routinely or periodically act as their representative, depending on experience.
- Interface with contractors and attend meetings.
- Mentor or supervise other inspectors on behalf of the resident engineer or project manager.
- Complete daily reports, measure and calculate unit price quantities.
- Coordinate independent material sampling and testing.
- Monitor maintenance of traffic.
- Take and compile photographs for tracking daily progress.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- High School Diploma.
- 7 years applicable experience.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, design plans and specifications.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field.
- Average proficiency with MS Word Suite.
- NETTCP HMA certifications, or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring.
- Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar systems. Knowledge of Bluebeam.
- Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered.
