The Assistant Clinical Professor will provide instruction/advising to graduate level nutrition students in both online didactic and laboratory courses. Foci of course content includes clinical and community nutrition content. Courses serve students enrolled in the Masters of Science in Applied Nutrition program. The typical semester teaching responsibility reflects 2-3 didactic and/or lab courses; and coursework typically unfolds over 8-week consecutive terms.

The successful candidate may also be invited to engage in curriculum development and participate in academic advising, recruiting, course and program assessment, and service to the school, college and university. The Assistant Clinical Professor will work with the Program Director and other Program faculty and staff to maintain and support the goals and needs of the program in compliance with ACEND accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of syllabi, instructional objectives/expected competencies, content outlines, lecture notes, instructional methods/activities, handouts, and evaluation tools
  • Participate in the planning, sequencing, and coordination of clinical year rotations and appropriate course content
  • Participate in the development of preceptor enrichment opportunities
  • Assist in recruitment of appropriate internal and external lecturers to deliver clinical year supplemental course material
  • Assist in monitoring student performance levels and trends over multi-year time frames
  • Assist with matching students with clinical year rotation and other experiential learning sites
  • Participate in the recruitment, development, and maintenance of clinical year rotations and other experiential learning sites
Core Faculty Responsibilities

Collaboration with the Program Director and other faculty and staff. As a faculty member, and in accordance with ACEND Accreditation Standards, the faculty member has responsibility in areas related to:

  • Selecting applicants for admission to the program
  • Providing student instruction
  • Assisting in curricular development and currency
  • Evaluating student performance in the didactic and clinical components of the Program
  • Provision of academic counseling and advising of students
  • Assisting in remedial instruction
  • Designing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating curriculum
  • Service to include Program, College and University committee membership
  • Participation in self-study and site visit activities necessary in maintaining full program accreditation
  • Assume any other related duties necessary to develop and maintain an effective program
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Nutrition or closely related field
  • Current RDN Licensure
  • Prior higher education and/or clinical coordinator experience
  • Demonstrated online teaching experience
  • Possess excellent oral, written, and computer skills (proficiency in electronic communication, word processing, and accessing internet resources)
  • Team oriented, collaborative work ethic
  • Demonstrated team-building, organizational, and leadership skills
  • A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience
  • Individuals will be expected to use technology and digital media in providing course instruction
