Senior Civil Engineering Manager – Portland, Maine

WSP is seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Manager to lead multidisciplinary design teams on civil and environmental projects including site development, infrastructure, landfills, stream restoration, and soil/groundwater remediation.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and model site grading, surface preparation, stormwater, and stormwater management systems.
  • Prepare engineering design calculations, reports, and construction drawings.
  • Use AutoCAD Civil3D for surface models and earthwork quantity takeoffs.
  • Interpret construction drawings and technical specifications; develop construction details.
  • Prepare permitting documents for local, state, and federal permits.
  • Perform construction inspection and oversight activities.
  • Mentor and lead junior engineers.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Support safety initiatives and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Occasionally travel to project sites (≈20% overnight).
Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. in civil, environmental, or related engineering.
  • 7–10 years of civil/environmental design experience.
  • PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Experience with grading, drainage, and stormwater modeling.
  • Knowledge of erosion & sediment control and stormwater permitting.
  • Strong analytical skills for design calculations, reports, specifications, and drawings.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER training is a plus.
