Job Summary: The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative (PSR) represents the face of the organization to patients seeking diagnostic or routine health services. This role requires strong interpersonal and technical skills to ensure accurate specimen collection and maintain patient trust. The PSR draws quality blood samples and prepares them for testing while adhering to strict safety and procedural standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood samples from patients safely and efficiently following all established protocols.
  • Foster trust and confidence with patients by explaining procedures and maintaining professionalism.
  • Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collections accurately.
  • Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of specimens in the patient’s presence.
  • Maintain and organize records, logs, and documentation as required.
  • Support area supervisors in completing daily operational goals on time.
  • Promote a positive company image and ensure a safe, compliant work environment.

Required Experience:

  • 2–3 years of phlebotomy experience required.
  • Experience in high-volume medical or laboratory settings.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-Have

Experience:

  • Experience in hospital or outpatient phlebotomy environments.
  • Familiarity with Northern Light Hospital protocols.
  • Experience working across multiple patient service centers.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills (including pediatric and geriatric patients).
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced setting.

Preferred

Skills:

  • Proficiency with laboratory information systems.
  • Understanding of OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control regulations.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Skills:

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to company safety, dress code, and professionalism standards.
  • Adaptability to schedule changes and travel between locations.

Additional

Job Requirements:

  • Must have reliable transportation (rideshare or bus service not acceptable).
  • Punctuality and attendance are critical — excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination.
  • Expected schedule: 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week
    , rotating between first and second shifts.
  • Credentialing requirements include:
    • Drug screen (Non-DOT)
    • Vaccination review (MMR, Varicella, Hep B, TDAP, Flu during flu season)
    • Color vision test
    • TB Quantiferon (within 30 days)
    • Respirator fit test (qualitative; fitted for 1860 and 1870 masks)
