Position Overview

INN is seeking a CNIM‑Eligible Analyst (trainee) in the Portland, ME area. This opening offers a stationary regional position supporting multiple facilities in the Portland, ME area. We look for clinical staff who are engaged and excited by our patient‑centric mission, service excellence, performance improvement, and ongoing professional development.

Principal

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Technical knowledge to participate during set‑up and monitoring of each case
  • Set up monitoring station and ensure equipment upkeep
  • Monitor spinal cord, nerve roots, peripheral nerves, cranial nerves, and cerebral blood flow during surgery
  • Evaluate various electronic and neurophysiologic waveforms
  • Apply different types of electrodes efficiently and precisely to a patient’s anatomy for monitoring a surgical procedure
  • Type technical reports and archive all patient records on the web portal
  • Write reports/articles as directed by supervisor or administrative staff
  • Study IONM related material preparing for the Certificate in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM)
Requirements – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathologic processes, and aseptic techniques
  • Knowledge of electrophysiological equipment and correct procedures for testing
  • Ability to evaluate various electronic and neurophysiologic waveforms
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with medical staff, patients, visitors, and hospital employees
  • Vigilance in infection control, hand hygiene, aseptic and sterile technique, and low‑level disinfection
  • Independently study IONM material to build a foundation for independent monitoring and CNIM exam preparation
  • Maintain appropriate progress within the IONM Analyst Training Program
Qualifications
  • Strong scientific aptitude and passion for intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring. A bachelor’s degree or a certificate in EEG or EP or equivalent is required to sit for the CNIM examination. Preference for those with previous medical, healthcare, or operating room experience.
