The Night Auditor is responsible for preparing and completing all Night Audit work. They oversee front desk operations during the overnight shift (typically 11 pm - 7 am). Main responsibilities include registering guests, making reservations, preparing daily reports, balancing transactions, and conducting security walks.
ResponsibilitiesQualifications:
- At least 1 year of progressive experience in a hotel or related field required.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- College coursework in a related field is helpful.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to resolve guest issues and emergency situations.
- Proficiency in Windows OS, company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to evaluate and choose among alternative actions quickly and accurately.
- Ability to work well under stress and in high-pressure situations.
- Effective problem-solving skills in the workplace.
- Ability to assimilate complex information from various sources and adapt as needed.
- Understanding of financial data and basic arithmetic.
- Ability to work in a self-managed environment.
- Good listening and clarifying skills.
- Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
Responsibilities:
- Approach guest and staff interactions in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance as per hotel standards, with scheduling varying as needed.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including proper uniform and name tag.
- Comply with all hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
- Maintain a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
- Initiate and complete the End of Day process.
- Run reports for Food and Beverage audits.
- Complete the Night Audit checklist daily.
- Balance daily work including revenue, postings, and paperwork.
- Handle cashiering responsibilities per Front Office procedures.
- Operate the Front Office computer system as per standards.
- Perform all Front Office functions between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
- Ensure security checks of building and guest areas.
- Handle guest requests during shift.
- Follow safety and emergency procedures.
- Keep proper records (log books, etc.).
- Be familiar with hotel policies and house rules.
- Complete direct bills and attach backup documentation.
- Maintain radio communication with staff.
- Understand security procedures.
- Ensure staff are attentive, courteous, and helpful.
- Prepare and distribute daily reports.
- Manage account transfers as needed.
- Distribute work as per SOPs.
- Train new Night Auditors as requested.
- Run morning reports.
- Assign newspaper deliveries and express check-outs.
- Ensure nightly walk-throughs of property areas.
- Handle Lost and Found items per standards.
- Complete reports and miscellaneous duties promptly.
- Assist guests with food orders and service when applicable, demonstrating suggestive selling and maintaining cleanliness.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
