Reporting to the VP of HR, you’ll lead day-to-day HR operations, support both field crews and office staff, and help shape the kind of workplace where great people want to stay, grow, and thrive. Key Responsibilities- Recruitment & Onboarding: Lead hiring and onboarding efforts for field and office roles, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selection, job offers, pre-employment screenings and background checks, and orientation sessions.
- Benefits Administration: Manage employee benefits for medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and time off plans, facilitating ongoing communications, assisting employees with questions, and processing enrollments, changes, and invoices.
- Leave & Injury Coordination: Provide employees with clear, caring support throughout leave, disability, and injury management processes, ensuring a smooth and informed experience.
- HR Operations: Maintain accurate, timely, and organized employee records, including weekly payroll changes and personnel files, using HRIS and other internal systems.
- Employee Relations & Performance Management: Address employee concerns and workplace performance issues with professionalism and fairness, while supporting performance review and goal setting processes.
- Training & Development: Coordinate employee learning and development initiatives, including onboarding, safety training, technical skills, professional growth, and leadership development programs to support career progression and organizational goals.
- Compliance & Policy: Ensure compliance with labor laws, safety standards, and internal HR policies through consistent practices, documentation, and timely reporting to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
- Event Planning: Organize employee engagement events, company celebrations, and team-building activities to support a positive workplace culture.
- Office Oversight & Team Supervision: Provide day-to-day oversight of office functions and supervise the Office Manager/Receptionist, ensuring smooth coordination of facilities, supplies, vendor relationships, and front desk operations to maintain an efficient and professional workplace.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience (construction or related industry preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), windows-based applications, and HRIS systems.
- Strong understanding of HR best practices and federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Demonstrates integrity and commitment to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Adaptable team player with a growth mindset, who partners effectively across all levels of the company with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, stay organized, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong decision-making, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills interacting with all levels of internal staff, vendors, and other business partners.
- Willingness to travel to project sites when needed.
