Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool position requiring a ME or compact RN license and strong Medical/Surgical/Telemetry skills.
Responsibilities- Position is in the Float Pool with assignments across Medical, Surgical, Telemetry, Observation Unit, and Intermediate Care
- Shift is 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM with a night rotating schedule
- Adult patient population with common diagnoses including CHF, COPD, Stroke, ETOH withdrawal, and post-operative cases
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5/6 on nights and 1:4/5 on days;
Intermediate Care ratio is 1:3 - Every other weekend required including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Call may be required if census drops
- EMR system is Cerner; GE Monitors and Pyxis in use
- Orientation includes 1 shift of regulatory/equipment review and 1 shift on a clinical unit
- RNs must be comfortable floating to multiple adult care units
- Support team includes CNAs (staffing varies), 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivist consults
- Charge RN available M-F days as free float, and takes an assignment on weekends/nights
- Professional scrubs of any color may be worn; scrubs are not provided
- Free parking is available
- First time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Holiday coverage will be required as scheduled
- Perm address must be at least 100 miles South/Southwest of EMMC for eligibility
- Active ME or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in Telemetry, Medical/Surgical, or related specialty
- BLS and ACLS certifications are required
- Skill set must include cardiac drip management (Heparin, Diltiazem), cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV starts, chest tube and trach care, and central/PICC line management
- Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
- Must not have worked previously at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity
- Flu vaccination required for all start dates 9/30/24 or later, medical exemptions only considered
