Mobile Diesel Technician II

DUTIES
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutch assemblies, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using test instruments (handheld computers, pressure gauges) and road‑test procedures.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to accurately diagnose malfunctions.
  • Manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work independently, prioritizing tasks, balancing workload, and ensuring high productivity within standard repair times.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks to complete repair work.
  • Document work on Repair Orders (RO) via iOS device and the TRAIT application, uploading pictures and parts information.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety and environmental policies.
  • Procure parts from approved vendors as needed.
  • Communicate with management and support teams to obtain repair approvals and share findings.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of related experience (or equivalent education with greater experience).
  • Supply a set of hand tools required for the role.
  • Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
  • Pass DOT‑regulated background screening and physical (or submit a valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining).
  • Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid state driver’s license.
  • Maintain a Driver Qualification File and safe driving record.
Required Certifications (Within 18 Months)
  • ASE T8 (PMI)

  • ASE T3 (Drivetrain)

  • ASE T5 (Suspension)
  • ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems)
  • ASE T7 (HVAC)
  • ASE 608/609 (Transmission/Hybrid)
