Woodhull is seeking a Carpenter to join our Residential Construction team. We build custom homes that combine thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship, and lasting quality. Our carpenters work alongside architects, project managers, and skilled tradespeople to bring some of Maine's most distinctive residential projects to life.

We are a team of builders who take pride in our work, support one another, and believe that details matter. We are seeking candidates with experience in residential construction and a passion for building exceptional homes. The strongest candidates will have experience working on custom homes, high-end residential projects, or other construction environments where craftsmanship, attention to detail, and quality execution matter. Successful candidates may be placed at different levels within our carpenter career framework based on their experience, demonstrated skills, and readiness for the role.

Our goal is not simply to fill a position. We are committed to finding the right fit, investing in our people, and providing opportunities for long-term growth and advancement.

  • Reliability, accountability, and professionalism
  • Safe work habits and commitment to jobsite safety
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
What You'll Do

Depending on experience and placement level, responsibilities may include:

  • Framing, siding, exterior trim, and structural carpentry on custom homes and renovation projects
  • Installing interior trim, doors, flooring, stair systems, hardware, and custom millwork
  • Reading and interpreting construction drawings, details, specifications, and layouts
  • Performing air sealing, insulation, weatherization, and other high-performance building practices
  • Executing project details with precision while maintaining Woodhull's quality standards
  • Operating hand tools, power tools, ladders, and construction equipment safely and effectively
  • Supporting punch list, warranty, maintenance, and project closeout activities
  • Loading, unloading, organizing, and handling materials responsibly
  • Maintaining clean, safe, and organized jobsites
  • Working collaboratively with teammates, project managers, architects, clients, and subcontractors to ensure successful project outcomes
  • Identifying issues proactively and helping solve problems in the field
  • Continuing to develop technical skills and construction knowledge through hands‑on experience and mentorship
Why work at Woodhull
  • Build architecturally significant custom homes and renovations throughout Maine
  • Work alongside talented builders, architects, and construction professionals
  • Gain experience across many aspects of residential construction, from framing through finish work
  • Learn from experienced craftspeople in a culture that values mentorship and continuous improvement
  • Advance within a defined carpenter career path with opportunities for increasing responsibility and specialization
  • Robust benefits package, including six weeks of PTO, health insurance, retirement benefits, and more
