Embedded Linux Field Engineer Devices​/IoT

Overview

Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT  field engineers work with customers in mission-critical industries such as Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, Telco, and Consumer Electronics. The role requires strong Linux expertise, proficiency in distribution packaging, software design, system debugging, and embedded software development methodologies. Canonical is the publisher of Ubuntu and Ubuntu Core, with a global, mostly remote workforce and periodic in-person team meetings.

• Engage customers during presales to gather requirements and explain our technology
• Elaborate solutions to be proposed to prospective clients
• Contribute to the delivery of select projects related to Embedded Linux
• Communicate market requirements to key stakeholders and contribute to the development or refinement of generic solutions to unlock market potential
• Act as a customer advocate and trusted advisor to Canonical

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Extensive Linux experience – Debian or Ubuntu preferred
• Distribution/packaging experience (deb, rpm, etc.)
• Solid embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot, etc.)
• Fluency in at least one of Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
• Professional written and spoken English in addition to the local language
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Result-oriented with the ability to multi-task
• Personal drive to meet commitments; humble learner and quick study
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time for customer meetings, company events, and conferences (for some locations, local language proficiency at a professional level may be required)

• Experience with customer engagements is a plus
