Summary – Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Process miscellaneous accounting duties, filing and support.

Detailed Duties
  • Financial statement preparation *
  • Reconcile several general ledger detail accounts *
  • Assist with quarterly and annual accounting reports *
  • Train and assist new accounting employees *
  • Provide training to new hires on accounting software during new hire orientation *
  • Support compliance, portfolio managers, and/or upper management regarding HUD and/or RD subsidies *
  • Post rent collections and adjustments as needed *
  • Review tenant activity in Boston Post and Res Man for accuracy *
  • Post rent corrections or adjustments in Boston Post and Res Man *
  • Bi‑weekly payroll processing, checking cash balances *
  • Daily manual and AVID check processing *
  • Download miscellaneous bank statements *
  • Research bank and payroll journal entries for others *
  • Timely processing of security deposit dispositions (move‑out packets) including review of required documents *
  • Set up bank transfers *
  • Post security deposit payments into accounting software *
  • Prepare and post various journal entries *
  • Reconcile bank accounts *
  • Travel as required for in‑person classes and annual education conferences *
  • Perform other duties as assigned *
Supervisory Responsibilities

No supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and Associate’s Degree or 3‑4 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to understand debits and credits.
  • Experience with SAGE and Res Man a plus.
  • Excel experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide; compute rate, ratio, percent; interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning ability: apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions; deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as telephones, typewriters, 10‑key, photocopier, fax machine.
Physical Demands

Regular use of hands for finger, handle, or feel objects; talk or hear. Requires sitting regularly, occasionally standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally 25‑50 lbs. Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Periodically exposed to outside weather, risk of electrical shock. Noise level usually moderate.
