Technical Accounting Manager
Our client is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to provide expert guidance on complex accounting matters and ensure compliance with evolving US GAAP standards. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker who can navigate technical details while keeping the broader business impact in mind. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to partner cross-functionally in a collaborative environment.

This role is onsite in Portland, Oregon.

Technical Accounting Manager Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and alignment with business activities.
• Serve as a resource on technical accounting issues and evaluate the accounting implications of complex contracts and transactions.
• Research, document, and recommend resolutions for technical accounting matters while monitoring FASB and SEC guidance.
• Support financial reporting, including preparation of committee materials, SEC disclosures, and external audit requests.
• Lead accounting for stock-based compensation, pension accounting, and assist with debt, equity, and proxy-related reporting.

Technical Accounting Manager Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and active CPA required, with at least 5 years of applied accounting experience.
• Public accounting background strongly preferred; utility industry experience and regulatory reporting knowledge highly desirable.
• Strong expertise in US GAAP, consolidations, and SEC reporting requirements.
• Proficiency with SAP or other financial systems; excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, ethical standards, and ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
