Senior Accountant

Description We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting audit preparation and resolving complex accounting issues. This position offers up to 30 hours per week with flexibility depending on organizational needs and budget performance.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare detailed audit schedules and compile requested information for auditors.

- Record necessary month-end closing entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.

- Conduct research on identified accounting discrepancies, propose solutions, and implement fixes.

- Perform periodic analysis of accounts receivable to maintain financial accuracy.

- Review payroll processes and assist with bank reconciliations as required.

- Provide support for accounts payable review and entry when needed.

- Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with organizational accounting standards.

- Assist in ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis to address immediate needs.

- Maintain accurate and organized financial records to support audit and operational processes. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

- Strong knowledge of billing functions and account reconciliation.

- Expertise in general accounting practices, including month-end close procedures.

- Familiarity with non-profit accounting principles and practices.

- Experience with Abila MIP accounting software is highly desirable.

- Background in audit preparation and supporting auditors.

- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to address financial discrepancies.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
