Maximum Hourly Rate: $17.50 (Standard); $17.00 (Non-Urban); $18.50 (Portland Metro)
Position SummaryThis recruitment will be used to fill one part‑time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Operations Assistant position for the Oregon State University facility in downtown Portland. This position will assist with administrative and customer service duties as well as maintenance within the new facility. Anticipated Hourly Rate: $18.00
Position Duties65% Administrative/Customer Service
- Greeting/receiving/directing customers and visitors – in person, on the phone and via email
- Processing and delivering mail
- Supporting classes and special events in the facility – setup, cleanup, etc.
- Monitoring and ordering inventory through online eProcurement system
- Assisting teaching faculty with classroom preparations
- Assisting building staff with building access issues, hours, security, etc.
- Other operational support duties as assigned
35% Facility Maintenance
- Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sweeping to help the facility maintain a professional appearance
- Cleaning surfaces such as tables, equipment, whiteboards, windows
- Submitting service requests through building management and campus partners as needed (maintenance requests, recycling, Surplus, etc.)
- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
- High School student:
Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program - Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
* International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

- Experience with Microsoft Outlook
- Experience supporting events
- Experience answering inquiries in person, via phone or email
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel
Workplace is a typical office environment in downtown Portland; work hours can range from 8am to 9pm. Physical requirements may include remaining in a stationary position, such as sitting or standing while completing a task, and maneuvering supplies up to 50 lbs.
Applicants must be able to work a minimum of a 3‑hour shift, but ideally will be available for 4‑6 hour shifts. Students should be able to work 12‑20 hours per week during the term.
