Overview

NAYA Family Center is looking for compassionate and qualified Early Childhood professionals to join our Family Services Department as Teacher Aides. This role supports the teaching staff with maintaining classroom balance, supervision, and light custodial duties. In this role you will have the opportunity to connect with children, parents, and coworkers, ensuring positive and communicative interactions.

These are hourly and nonexempt positions that we are currently hiring for full time, part time and substitutes. General working hours are 7 am to 6 pm. The pay for this position is $20/hour.

Who You Are
  • You have a high school diploma (or equivalent) or have a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • You have at least a year of experience working with young children.
  • You maintain current education licensing, including training modules required by the Dept of Early Learning and Care and 12 hours of relevant CED per year.
  • You have lived or professional experience working with diverse populations, particularly within Native American communities.
  • You thrive in a team-oriented workplace, are adaptable, and are willing to roll up your sleeves and pitch in, even when it’s not your job.
  • You possess strong communication skills, engaging effectively with diverse groups and adapting to varied contexts.
  • You demonstrate self-awareness, listening deeply, centering others, and taking accountability for your actions.
  • You are consistently punctual, reliable, and dependable in support of your team and clients.
  • You are proficient in computer skills, including web-based research, word processing, MS Excel, and email.
  • You hold or can obtain certification in CPR, First Aid, AED, and a Food Handler's card.
  • You have a valid State drivers license and are willing to register with Oregon's Central Background Registry.
What You'll Do
  • Provide support for teaching staff during meal periods, breaks, and/or in the event that a teacher needs to leave the classroom.
  • Assist in caring for children by supervising while toileting, changing diapers and/or clothes, and preparing children to go home for the day.
  • Help with classroom oversight, including recordkeeping, playground supervision, and engaging with children through various activities.
  • Perform light custodial duties, such as sweeping, disinfecting toys, wiping down tables and shelves, and replenishing supplies.
  • Input data, and maintain NAYA and/or contractually required information database systems to track client information
  • Foster a safe and healthy environment for children, including complying with safety standards and reporting unsafe conditions or injuries.
