We’re currently seeking a highly motivated Electrical Construction Inspector located in Portland, OR.
Required Education- High School Diploma
- Supervisor’s license issued by the State of Oregon and/or an “A” level State of Oregon Electrical Inspector’s Certificate
- Valid Oregon or Washington State driver’s license within 30 days
- Provide inspection of construction for new facilities and refurbishing or rebuilding of existing facilities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of projects during construction to document compliance with contract terms.
- Knowledge of engineering, surveying, and construction terminology as well as standard practices and procedures.
- Experience reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
- Experience on large scale industrial projects.
- Provides on‑site inspection of work.
- Inspects materials, installation, layout of work, and evaluates its acceptability.
- Determines and notifies contractor of unacceptable material or work.
- Suspends work with Construction Manager’s approval.
- Acts as liaison between CM and contractor during construction.
- Performs or supervises quality control testing.
- May conduct weekly progress meetings with contractor.
- Maintains thorough and accurate records.
- Keeps a daily diary for each job assigned.
- Verifies quantities for contractor’s monthly pay estimate.
- Maintains as‑built drawings current.
- Prepares Force Account documentation.
- Provides interdepartmental support.
- Assists survey crew as requested.
- Prepares documents and information for arbitration or legal action as requested.
- Reviews drawings and specifications of proposed projects for consistency with good construction practice, clarity, and internal consistency.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical construction practices, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, conduit systems, and control systems.
- Thorough understanding of applicable codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA, OSHA, local jurisdictional requirements).
- Experience inspecting public works, municipal, or utility infrastructure projects.
- Ability to interpret and review electrical plans, specifications, one‑line diagrams, and shop drawings.
- Proficient in identifying construction deficiencies, non‑conforming work, and safety issues, and documenting corrective actions.
- Strong field documentation skills, including daily reports, inspection logs, deficiency lists, and photographic records.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordination with contractors, engineers, project managers, and agency staff.
- Ability to track construction progress, verify quantities, and confirm work completed aligns with contract requirements.
- Knowledge of construction sequencing, testing, and commissioning for electrical systems.
- Familiarity with material submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications.
- Strong commitment to jobsite safety, including hazard recognition and enforcement of safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain professional integrity in the field.
- Proficient with field technology (tablets, inspection software, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar platforms).
- Ability to manage multiple projects or active work zones simultaneously.
$58.00 – $65.00 per hour
Bonus PayA bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, utilization, attendance, tenure, and other non‑financial corporate goals; opportunities are at management’s discretion.
