Assistant / Associate Professor – Psychiatrist – Oregon Health & Science University
Role OverviewFull‑time transplant psychiatry position supporting solid organ transplant (heart, liver, kidney) and VAD implants.
Responsibilities- Perform psychiatric evaluation of solid organ transplant candidates.
- Participate in weekly selection conferences and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Provide inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to transplant candidates and post‑transplant patients.
- Support evaluation, listing, transplant, and post‑transplant care in collaboration with surgeons, physicians, social workers, dieticians, APPs, and nurse coordinators.
- Participate in quality, protocol, research, and education activities.
- Teach medical students, residents, and consultation‑liaison fellows.
- Perform departmental call rotation (2–4 weeks/year); on‑call coverage for inpatient services.
- Engage in scholarly, educational, and administrative duties (0.2 FTE).
Provision of psychiatric services to candidates on the transplant list and post‑transplant care; no long‑term continuity of care.
ResearchFaculty interested in clinical, translational, or basic science research are encouraged to apply. Please outline current research interests, scholarly activities, and research funding history.
EducationTeach medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical settings and offer lectures during the year.
AdministrativeAdministrative duties may include committee service and other division needs.
Required Qualifications- MD or DO with active Oregon licensure at time of hire.
- Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
- Active DEA license at time of hire.
- Consult‑liaison psychiatry board certification or eligibility.
- Experience providing psychiatric services to transplant populations in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Experience or strong desire to work in academic medicine, supporting OHSU mission.
- Desire to work in an interdisciplinary setting.
