Interventional Radiologist – Rural Kansas Hospital

Location: Rural Kansas Hospital

Salary & Benefits

500-550k base compensation
Opportunity for bonus based on RVU production and quality metrics

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Interventional Radiologist to join our dedicated healthcare team in a rural Kansas hospital. As an Interventional Radiologist, you will perform minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions, playing a critical role in patient care within an underserved area. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, oncologists, cardiologists, and other specialists, with a commitment to serving the unique needs of rural populations.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities
  • Angiography, angioplasty, and stent placement
  • Endo‑venous laser therapy (EVLT)
  • Biopsy and drainage procedures
  • Biliary procedures
  • Gastrostomy tube placement
  • Urological procedures
  • Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty
  • Dialysis access and maintenance
  • Interventional oncology (tumor ablation, embolization)
  • Provide consultation and follow‑up care for patients undergoing interventional procedures
  • Collaborate with other medical specialties to develop comprehensive treatment plans
  • Assess patients pre‑procedure, ensuring proper informed consent and explaining procedures in a clear, compassionate manner
  • Interpret imaging studies to guide interventional procedures, ensuring high levels of diagnostic accuracy
  • Monitor and manage post‑procedure recovery, addressing any complications or concerns
Administrative and Support Duties
  • Document patient procedures, outcomes, and follow‑up care in the hospital’s electronic medical record system (EMR)
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, case reviews, and collaborative meetings
  • Provide on‑call coverage as needed for urgent interventional procedures
  • Ensure patient safety and adherence to infection control protocols during interventional procedures
  • Supervise and mentor radiology residents and fellows (if applicable)
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing the hospital’s interventional radiology service lines
Patient Care
  • Provide compassionate, patient‑centered care, taking into account the specific needs of a rural patient population
  • Educate patients about their conditions, the interventional radiology procedures being performed, and expected outcomes
  • Foster strong relationships with patients and their families, offering emotional support as needed
  • Advocate for high‑quality, evidence‑based care that aligns with the hospital’s mission of serving rural communities
Community Engagement
  • Participate in community outreach programs, providing education about health conditions and prevention strategies, especially those relevant to rural populations (e.g., cardiovascular health, cancer prevention)
  • Engage with local healthcare providers to promote awareness of interventional radiology services and foster stronger referral relationships
Qualifications Education
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Completed an accredited residency program in Diagnostic Radiology
  • Fellowship training in Interventional Radiology
Experience
  • Experience in a broad spectrum of interventional radiology procedures is required
  • Experience working in a rural healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory
  • Ability to work independently and manage a full caseload in a busy hospital setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team
Licenses & Certifications
  • Board certification or eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology (American Board of Radiology or equivalent)
  • Valid medical license in the state of Kansas (or eligibility to obtain)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
