General Cardiologist — Assistant Professor

Department Overview

The Knight Cardiovascular Institute (KCVI) is a leading integrated center for cardiovascular clinical care, translational research, and professional training in all aspects of heart and vascular disease. Guided by a multidisciplinary approach, KCVI’s research aims to improve patient outcomes by enabling earlier diagnosis, more accurate monitoring of disease progression, and therapy tailored to the molecular basis of disease.

Functions / Duties
  • Clinical: Serve as a General Cardiologist in the Division of Cardiology. Manage patients with chronic or acute heart disease in ambulatory and inpatient settings, with primary responsibilities in the ambulatory clinic as part of a collaborative team of physicians, APPs, and support staff. Provide approximately 8 weeks per year of inpatient service, participate in cardiovascular imaging (echocardiography, nuclear cardiology), and supervise APPs.
  • Education: Mentor and direct medical students, residents, fellows, and staff as a faculty member of a teaching institution.
  • Research: Pursue research opportunities in your focus area with available administrative support for grant submission, financial management, and clinical trials assistance.
  • Administration: Undertake administrative duties supporting the Institute or section initiatives, faculty development, and other activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Licensed MD/DO
  • Active DEA Certification
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiology
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience practicing in an academic health facility
