Overview
Portland Rescue Mission is seeking an Children's Center Lead Teacher
. This role supports children and mothers at Shepherd’s Door, a women and children’s facility, through a Christ-centered, school-like environment focused on fostering social, language, and motor skills, as well as emotional and spiritual growth.
- Create a Christ-centered, school-like environment for the children while supporting development of social, language, and motor skills
- Direct and train additional classroom staff, volunteers, and program participants serving in the Children’s Center
- Create, prepare, and implement age-appropriate lesson plans
- Complete quarterly evaluations of participant children’s age-level developmental benchmarks and collaborate with outside agencies to support children’s progress
- Provide observation of child visits as needed
- Maintain a well-organized, clean, colorful, and joyful classroom and playground environment
- Share the Gospel with women and children through Bible lessons and worship
- A passionate relationship with Jesus Christ and a testimony of continued growth in faith
- Alignment with Portland Rescue Mission’s ministry culture:

- College degree in related field or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of trauma-informed classroom principles
- Prompt, thorough, and self-motivated with strong teamwork skills
- Experience creating and implementing lesson plans for early childhood
- Understanding of developmental benchmarks for children
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive large vans for field trips
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and engage with children as needed

Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm, occasional nights and weekends - Pay Rate: $19.00-$20.33
