Physics Adjunct Pool – Academic Year 2025‑2026

As an adjunct instructor at Portland State University’s College of Urban and Public Affairs, you will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in physics.

Position Summary

Portland State University, with its 49‑acre downtown campus, offers a comprehensive public education. The Department of Physics invites applications from qualified instructors to teach core physics courses.

Courses
  • PH 361 – General Astronomy
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in Applied Physics (or closely related field) for 100‑300 level courses.
  • Previous teaching experience in astronomy at college/university level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, Applied Physics, or related field.

Compensation

Adjunct faculty are paid per credit hour per the PSUFA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Salary may be adjusted above the minimum rates based on qualifications and experience.
