Assistant Professor of Practice - Power Systems
Portland State University (PSU) is seeking an outstanding candidate for a Non‑Tenure Track Faculty position:
Assistant Professor of Practice – Power Systems. The appointment is a 1‑year, 9‑month teaching assignment beginning 09/16/2026, with a fixed‑term end date. The position offers a salary range of $85,000‑$92,690 and a 95% premium paid health‑care benefit package.
The role focuses on teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical engineering, specifically in power systems. The faculty member will typically teach two 4‑credit courses each quarter (fall, winter, spring). Additional responsibilities include service to the department, college, or university; capstone project supervision; curriculum and program development; teaching laboratory directorship; and engagement with regional industry partners to strengthen power engineering career development path, recruit guest speakers and adjunct faculty, and inform continuous improvement of PSU’s power‑track BS EE and MS ECE programs.
Qualifications- Primary Instructional
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related discipline; experience teaching and/or related industry experience. - Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering or related discipline; demonstrated teaching excellence; experience teaching at least three courses in higher education and/or 3 years of related industry experience; experience teaching graduate and undergraduate electrical and computer engineering courses.

The starting annual 9‑month salary will be between $85,000 and $92,690. A 95% premium paid health‑care benefit, generous retirement and vacation package, reduced tuition rates for employees, spouse or dependent, and access to PSU total‑compensation calculator are included.
