Department Summary

The Ballmer Institute for Children's Behavioral Health at the University of Oregon Portland establishes a new national model for behavioral healthcare for children and families by creating a first-of-its-kind undergraduate training program in child behavioral health.

The institute prioritizes the needs of youth who have been historically or persistently underserved and seeks to make real system change by:
- Creating a new mental health profession
- Delivering support in schools and the community
- Training existing youth-serving professionals
- Developing new approaches to support child behavioral health
- Transforming the Pacific Northwest into a national model of thought and action

Position Summary

The Senior Director of Child Behavioral Health Dissemination will spearhead efforts to expand the Ballmer Institute’s Child Behavioral Health Training Program (CBH-TP).

The Senior Director will build and sustain partnerships with key stakeholders nationwide to position the CBH-TP as a national model for child behavioral health training and education. They will develop and implement strategies to broaden the program’s reach, promote its benefits, and support partners in adopting and sustaining the program effectively.

This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of research, policy, and practice. Key responsibilities include leading the creation and adaptation of training materials for diverse audiences, delivering dynamic workshops and e-learning modules, and serving as a trusted advisor to states and institutions as they navigate the challenges of implementation.

Ideal candidates bring deep expertise in child behavioral health research and policy with a focus on equity and inclusion. They will have demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and dissemination. This is more than a leadership role—it’s a chance to drive transformative and lasting improvements in child behavioral health outcomes on a national scale.

• Ph.D. from an APA-accredited doctoral program.

• Expertise in delivering evidence-based behavioral health promotion, prevention, and intervention for common child/adolescent behavioral health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and trauma.

• Five years of experience in community relations, research translation, or other stakeholder engagement.

• Deep knowledge of child behavioral health system including but not limited to evidence-based practices and workforce needs.

• Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with diverse stakeholders (e.g., policymakers, educators, healthcare professionals, community organizations).

• Ability to build effective interpersonal relationships and communicate clearly, serving as a trusted advisor to states and institutions.

• Knowledge of implementation science to support sustainable program adoption.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading large-scale initiatives that impact behavioral health outcomes.

• Commitment to advancing equity and inclusion within child behavioral health initiatives.

• Experience navigating policy environments to support the implementation of evidence-based practices.
