JOB PURPOSE:

Fir Acres Writing Workshop seeks mature and dependable students who have an interest in creative writing for Resident Advisor positions. Applicants must have strong people skills, leadership abilities, a driver’s license, and the ability to pass Lewis & Clark’s driver’s clearance. RAs will live in the residence hall with participants, make sure students follow the rules of the program, check in with students in the mornings and evenings, and generally be on campus and available to help and advise young writers.

In collaboration with the director, RAs will plan and lead field trips and plan and lead nightly events. RAs receive room and board for two-weeks and write (and work) alongside a dynamic faculty and a community of writers.

At the Fir Acres Writing Workshop, sixty high school students from across the country come together for two weeks to write and join a community of writers on the beautiful, wooded campus of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. In daily Workshops, participants study great writing and produce their own under the guidance of thoughtful, published faculty. At night, participants gather to socialize, meet and hear from distinguished visiting writers, and work on their own poetry, fiction, and creative prose.

Our mission is to provide a high-caliber, pre-collegiate, creative educational experience to bright, inventive, and passionate high school students. Our program appeals to young writers and artistic students who are drawn to the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the fun, hip mystique of Portland.## PREREQUISITES FOR ELIGIBILITY:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* In collaboration with the director and Resident Director, RAs will plan and lead field trips and plan and lead nightly events.
* RAs receive room and board for two-weeks and write (and work) alongside a dynamic faculty and a community of writers.## RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS DIVERSITY:
* Ability to honor and work with all identities and individuals, particularly those who are underrepresented in the country and/or at Lewis & Clark College.##

SCHEDULE:

* Fir Acres Writing Workshop runs from
** June 21-July 4, 2026**. Resident Advisors will need to be on campus from
** June 19 - July 5, 2026**, for training and debriefing purposes. Resident Advisors will work daily, including the middle weekend. Resident advisors work approximately 102 regular hours and 33 overtime hours during the two weeks.## RATE OF PAY:* $16.30 per hour. Minimum wage likely to increase on July 1, 2026.## WORK STUDY REQUIREMENT:
