About Jesuit High School
Jesuit High School’s mission to educate young women and men is rooted in nearly five centuries of a Jesuit educational tradition defined by faith, community, and a commitment to serve the “Greater Glory of God.” The school’s motto is Age Quod Agis, Do Well Whatever You Do. Jesuit High School is a Catholic, college preparatory school in the Jesuit tradition. It serves students of all religious faiths.
Jesuit education fosters the harmonious development of the adolescent’s gifts: spiritual, religious, intellectual, physical, emotional, and aesthetic. Jesuit High School hopes to accomplish this development by demonstrating a personal concern for individuals, a special concern for the poor, an articulate wisdom, enthusiasm, and a sense of community. In so doing, the school hopes to graduate leaders who are committed to serve God and their fellow men and women through a profound sense of justice founded in love, i.e., leaders who are “men and women for others.”
Jesuit High School, located in Portland, Oregon in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, was founded in 1956 by the Society of Jesus and is part of a 477-year Jesuit educational tradition. Jesuit High School is a Catholic, non-profit, coeducational college-preparatory school for grades 9-12 that serves 1,280 students of all religious faiths and backgrounds.
At Jesuit, the school’s Catholic identity is celebrated while students are offered a uniquely Jesuit approach to education founded in the educational philosophy of Jesuit founder St. Ignatius of Loyola. The school’s goal is to educate the whole student: mind, body, and spirit. Students are challenged to be open to growth, intellectually competent, religious, loving, and committed to doing justice.

This year its newest students come from over 62 different feeder schools and 44% of the overall student body identify as students of color. Although nearly two-thirds of its students are Catholic (64%), the school also serves students of a wide variety of religious backgrounds.
