COMMUNITY SCHOOLS ACTIVITY LEADER - TEMPORARY

Position Title: Temporary SUN Activity Leader
Reports To: SUN Site Manager
Location: Alder Elementary
Term: January 12th to March 6th, 2024 (Winter Term) – with additional training dates.
Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday, 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. (Student hours) – part‑time, temporary.

Position Summary

Metropolitan Family Service (MFS) seeks an After school Activity Leader to design, plan, and teach engaging STEM and other enrichment classes for approximately 15 elementary‑grade students per session. The role includes supervising student safety, maintaining classroom rules, communicating with school staff, and ensuring a positive learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach age‑appropriate lessons aligned with academic and recreational themes.
  • Supervise groups of 12–16 students during daily routines (meal time, recess, bathroom breaks, transitions).
  • Record and submit daily attendance.
  • Maintain classroom and school rules to ensure student safety.
  • Communicate regularly with the SUN Site Manager about student progress, successes, and concerns.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and custodians.
  • Adhere to school and agency policies, protect student confidentiality, and act within legal and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Experience teaching children and creating lesson plans.
  • Strong behavior management skills with elementary‑age children.
  • Minimum 18 years of age and legally able to work in the United States (I‑9 documentation required).
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated, creative, resourceful, and team‑oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and ask questions for clarification.
  • Enthusiasm for working in an inclusive environment with children of all backgrounds and abilities.
  • Spanish speaking skills are a plus; basic English proficiency required.
  • Must submit a criminal background check.
Compensation

$18.00 per hour, varying with experience.
