Portland Community College is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon and 19th largest in the nation, serving approximately 80,000 full- and part‑time students. This role is part of the Mathematics department’s interest pool for part‑time faculty assignments throughout the academic year.
Role OverviewApplications will be considered for substitute, term, and full‑time class assignments as needs arise. There is no specific opening at the time of posting; your application will remain in the pool until a suitable position becomes available.
Program & Who We Are Looking ForAs part of your application, you will list the PCC courses you can teach. Please review the PCC Course Catalog for the relevant subject area. If you are interested in joining our learning community and contributing to student success, we encourage you to apply.
Instructor Qualifications- Master’s degree (MS, MA) in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics.
- OR Master’s degree in Mathematics Education or Teaching (MST, MAT) with emphasis in mathematics AND a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics; AND 18 quarter hours (12 semester hours) in graduate‑level mathematics.
- OR Master’s degree in a field related to mathematics; AND 27 quarter hours (18 semester hours) in graduate‑level mathematics.
Demonstrated competency for part‑time faculty and dual‑credit instructors may also be satisfied by other qualifications if the above minimum instructor qualifications have not been met. See the full PCC Math Instructor Qualifications page for details.
Academic Credentials- Official transcripts must be submitted within 2 weeks of the offer date for required degrees.
- Degrees must be earned at a regionally accredited U.S. institution or an equivalent foreign institution.
- Foreign credentials must be evaluated by an agency with good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Compensation & BenefitsNewly hired part‑time faculty begin at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined by the course type (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
