PositionPortland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part‑Time Faculty assignments in the Music and Sonic Arts Department at the Cascade Campus. This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part‑Time Faculty Interest Pool from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full‑term class assignments.
OurProgram and Who We Are Looking For
Unique to the Cascade Campus, Professional Music is a professional program offering a 43‑credit certificate in professional music. Students select an emphasis in performance, electronic music production, or studio recording. Prospective applicants with expertise in music theory, electronic music production, and recording arts are especially encouraged to apply. Preferred qualifications include a four‑year degree in a related field, recent professional experience, knowledge of musical traditions in a variety of cultures, and an ability to communicate effectively with people of wide‑ranging backgrounds.

Instructor Qualifications- Master’s degree in Music Education, Performance, Composition, Audio Engineering, Music Production, Sound Design or related field
- Three years experience in industry as a performer, composer, engineer, producer or sound designer
OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Performance, Composition, Audio Engineering, Music Production, Sound Design or related field
- Four years experience in industry as a performer, composer, engineer, producer or sound designer
OR
- Associate’s degree in Music Education, Performance, Composition, Audio Engineering, Music Production, Sound Design or related field
- Five years experience in industry as a performer, composer, engineer, producer or sound designer
OR
Demonstrated competency:
For other kinds of experience not listed here, the Division Dean, in consultation with the Faculty Department Chair, will make a recommendation to the Dean of Instruction which is subject to approval by the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
