What You’ll Do and Who We’re Looking For

Under the direction of Child Development Center management, you will work with the Senior Child Development Specialist to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and programs for children ages infant to 5 in the Child Development Center labs. You will model and provide feedback on appropriate interaction skills and teaching techniques for program students, parents, and staff. The position requires daily interaction with children, parents, Early Education and Family Studies students, program faculty, and the Senior Child Development Specialist.

This part‑time role (0.85 FTE) runs September through mid‑June, with time off during the summer term.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years of post‑secondary education in a technical discipline relevant to instructional support.
  • One year of experience supporting laboratory activities in the technical area; comparable experience may substitute for the post‑secondary education requirement on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Proven communications skills adequate to assist students in understanding assigned tasks.
Success Criteria
  • Good oral communication skills.
Experience In
  • Working collaboratively with others and as a member of a team.
  • Supporting less experienced early childhood teaching staff.
  • Providing an inclusive early childhood learning environment and modeling inclusive teaching practices.
Ability To
  • Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children.
  • Assess young children and their development through observation and documentation.
