Summer Camp Full Time Seasonal Japanese Immersion Teaching Assistant
International School of Portland (ISOP) is hiring for the 2026 Summer Camp.
About the PositionWe are looking for enthusiastic and experienced seasonal full‑time Japanese Immersion Teaching Assistants to join our team. Our teachers and teacher assistants come from around the world and are passionate about making language learning fun through hands‑on activities, songs, games, outdoor fun, and cultural connections.
Dates & Sessions2026 Summer Camp Sessions:
- Session 1 – June 22nd – July 3rd
- Session 2 – July 6th – July 17th
- Session 3 – July 20th – July 31st
- (All Specialists must participate in training in May and/or June.)
7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday‑Friday.
Pay RateDepending on experience:
- Teacher Assistant (Returning or Assistant II) – $22.00 per 2‑week session
- Teacher Assistant (New or Assistant I) – $21.00 per 2‑week session
Salary range: $20 – $22 per hour.
Camp Tuition DiscountStaff receive a discount off of Summer Camp enrollment fees for eligible children.
ResponsibilitiesThe Teacher Assistant is a full‑time seasonal member of a classroom team consisting of the language immersion teacher, teacher’s aide, and floating aide.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting lead teachers in supervising campers in the classroom, on the playground, on field trips, and with specialist teachers.
- Communicating with families and the camp director.
- Assisting with special events.
- Supporting the lead teacher by enforcing class rules, helping distribute materials, and assisting with teaching, when appropriate.
- Eligible to work in the USA.
- Fluent in Japanese.
- At least 3 months of experience working with children, preferably in a camp or school setting.
- Support the mission and vision of International School of Portland.
- Enthusiastic, creative, responsible, and passionate about teaching young language learners.
